U16 Soccer Drills

2 vs. 1 Outside Attack

2 vs. 1 Outside Attack

This soccer drill is an extension of the previous drill.  This time attackers from both lines will go at the same time.  The goal for the defender is to keep the ball carrierr to the outside and make it tough for them to make a pass to the other attacker.  The attacker should be trying to cross the ball or take a shot on net.

1 vs. 1 Outside Attack

1 vs. 1 Outside Attack

This socer drill is focused on defenders maintaining good defensive positioning.  The goal is for the defenders to force the attackers to the outside and not allow a shot from a good angle.  To set up the soccer drill place two lines on each side of the net as shown.  The inside line are the defenders and the outside line are attackers.

Advanced Box Passing Drill

Advanced Box Passing Drill

This soccer drill is set up the exact same way as the  1st touch box passing drill.  This is just a variation geared towards advanced players.  Each pass must be made in the air so the player receiving it is forced to use their chest or head to receive the ball.  The goal is to receive the ball and maintain control within the discs or cones.

Argentina Circle Passing - #2

This soccer drill is run the same way as the first Argentina Circle Passing drill except in this variation involves 6 players and 2 balls. Now the communication and awareness becomes key for the drill to function.

Spanish through Ball Drill - Variation#2

Spanish through Ball Drill - Variation#2

This is a variation of the first Spanish Through Ball Soccer Drill. In this variation the forward checks off the defender by running forwards and then back to the ball carrier. The ball carrier then passes the ball and runs through the flags or cones into space.

Spanish through Ball Drill - Variation#1

Spanish through Ball Drill - Variation#1

This is the first of several variations to this soccer drill. Set up three cones, discs, or flags as shown in the diagram. One line of players is set about 10 yards in front of the passer. The second player is placed in line with the flags in an on-side position. A third player is in goal, this player can also rotate through the drill if desired.

Diamond Pass & Move Drill

Diamond Pass and Move Passing Drill

To set up this soccer drill place discs or cones in a diamond shape as shown in the diagram.  The width across the short side of the diamond should be 15 - 20 yards.  The player on one end starts with the ball and passes the ball as shown.  Players should try to make each pass as quickly and accurate as possible so the first touch is crucial.

3 on 1 Support in 3 Zones

This soccer drill builds off the previous soccer drill.  The set up is exactly the same in this soccer drill but now we have added 3 defenders as shown.  There are also 3 zones in which one defender will try to create a turnover.
