3 vs. 1 Pass and Move
This is a soccer drill that has players reading the field and working hard without the ball. 4 players are needed total, 3 offensive and 1 defensive. Place 4 cones or discs in a 15 x 15 yard square about 10 to 15 yards in front of the net (see diagram). Each offfensive player starts at one of the four corners of the marked area so there is one corner that is not occupied. The defender starts in the middle of the marked area. The objective of the drill is to get a quality shot on net. The offensive players can only shoot after 5 passes. The rule is that players must pass and receive from the corners of the marked area. After each pass the player must run to the corner that is not occupied. This forces players to pass, recognized the open space, and sprint into the space. It also forces the player with the ball to have an awareness of their team mates location. The defensive player is trying to intercept the ball. After 5 concsecutive passes the offensive players can shoot.
